Two elected representatives, Sinn Féin's Michelle Gildernew and the SDLP's Tommy Gallagher have expressed her concerns over the damning contents of a Report made by the Western Health and Social Services Council, the 'watchdog' for consumers, on the cleanliness of the Erne Hospital.
Their Report found, 'appalling levels of hygiene' in three wards, Maternity, Ward Nine (elderly medical) and Ward 10 (medical). One patient with the MRSA bug was observed by WHSCC members still being nursed in Ward Nine and, in Ward 10, a nurse who was taking blood from a patient was wearing neither gloves nor an apron and was observed moving between patients.
