Little burns victim still in danger

The three-year old Enniskillen girl, Rebecca Johnston who sustained serious burns' injuries when her dress caught fire, apparently from candle flames in the family home at Cappog Road, just off the Sligo Road on the outskirts of Enniskillen, is still not out of danger.

Rebecca's mother, Wilma sustained burns to her fingers as she attempted to extinguish the flames and was rushed along with her daughter to the Erne Hospital.

Yesterday, Rebecca's uncle, Niall said the little girl's parents, his brother Gary, and Wilma were still in a bad way, a week after the freak accident which occurred at around 6.45 on Tuesday evening of last week.

"Rebecca is still serious, but stable but isn't out of danger yet", he said.

"Basically, there has been no change really since last week.

"I would have to say that the paramedics and the staff at the Erne did great work. We are very pleased with the quick service, the ambulance crew and for all the attention that the Erne gave her."
