Easy quarter-final success for St Michael's

ST MICHAEL'S ........................4-14

ST MACARTEN'S ......................0-3

St Michael's, as the scoreline indicates had very little difficulty in disposing of the challenge of a weak St Macarten's team in this Dalton Cup quarter final played last weekend in Scotstown.

The Enniskillen college were swiftly in the driving seat and they were to dictate matters in virtually every sector of the park. They had the contest wrapped up by the interval, having established a commanding lead and Monaghan in no way threatened to put on any kind of pressure after the changeover.

The St Michael's attack was to be served up an ample supply of possession and they were to make good use of it. Leading the way up front for them were Barry McAleer and Colin Logan with Johnny Courtney and Kevin Curran also featuring prominently.

Back in the defensive set up it was a similarly satisfactory story for the winners.

Here the back division was always in control and they yielded up a meagre tally of scores to a well policed Monaghan forward line.

Thomas Clarke and Cathal Caulfield were two particularly solid figures while around the middle of the park, Martin Beggan got through a lot of fine work.

Next up for the Drumclay college will be tussle with St Patrick's Maghera and this will certainly be a considerably tougher assignment for the Derry college have been impressive in their programme of games so far.

As yet no firm date has been pencilled in for the game.
