Belleek goes 'sumo' for 'It's a Knock-out'

Teams are in training to battle it out for the title of the Cross Border, 'It's a Knockout' Championship of 2008 which will take place at Erne Gael's GAA Grounds (Pairc na hEirne) Belleek on Sunday 4th May.

So enthused are the event organisers that they have dubbed the event, 'Jeux Sans Frontieres', its European title for the popular television game, as its spokesperson explained.

"It's because, this year, the event will have a real international flavour with a French team which is currently on an exchange visit to Ballyshannon."

Firefighters from Belleek and Ballyshannon steamed ahead last year to extinguish all opposition and claim the title of 'Knockout Champions', but there are some rivals who are determined to put up a stronger challenge this time around.

For instance, the Fiddlestone Bar reported that its team had gone through a rigorous selection process, and had spent many hours undergoing extreme fitness training, transporting large quantities of liquids across complicated obstacle courses!

As well as the main event, there will be opportunities for all the family to join in in the spirit of the day. painting. If you would like to enter a team, please contact Isobel or Leza on 028 68659041 (NI) or 048 68659041 .
