700 customers lose electricity supply

Approximately 700 customers in Enniskillen lost electricity supplies at 2.45pm on Friday following contractor damage to the electricity network. Traffic lights at Queen Street were also affected, causing additional problems for drivers caught up in the Friday afternoon traffic.

A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), explained that the damage had not been reported to NIE at the time and a fault subsequently developed which affected electricity supplies.

NIE emergency crews responded immediately, restoring the majority of customers within an hour with remaining groups of customers were restored at 4.15pm.
