Tesco

committed to

Enniskillen



Tesco have moved to quell rumours they have plans to pull out of their Enniskillen store.

A spokesperson for Tesco explained:

"We are very committed to our store in Enniskillen, which opened just prior to Christmas creating 240 new jobs.

"We have worked very closely with local suppliers and held a 'meet the buyer' event in the Enniskillen Agricultural College."

Furthermore the spokesperson went on: "We have also been very involved with the local community and initiatives have included raising significant funds for local charities, supporting a tree planting initiative with Tree Hug who provided an environmental pack for every P7 child in Fermanagh and sponsoring the 10K road race in June with the local rotary club who will be raising much-needed funds for Marie Curie."

'Grave' bikes returned

The widow of Richard Britton has thanked the Fermanagh Herald for its help in recovering the six replica motorbikes from her husband's grave at Breandrum Cemetery in Enniskillen.

Maria Britton and her son Loris received the good news late last week after weeks of searching.

"We're just glad the bikes are back and thank everyone for their help," she said.

Police have now identified a suspect who they are seeking to arrest in relation to the theft of the six replica bikes.

CoI Hall damaged

Police are appealing for information after a wall was damaged at the Church of Ireland Hall in Lisnaskea. The incident was reported to Police at 7.30pm on Monday, 21st April.

A PSNI spokesman said it involved eight boards being pushed in and broken, low to the ground.

"We believe the damage to have been caused by a vehicle or a trailer turning in the area. The gate was opened at 10am and closed at 1pm and, at that stage, no damage was evident.

The gate was re-opened at 3pm when the damaged could be seen".

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact local police. The number to call with any information is 0845 600 8000, or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on the freephone number 0800 555 111.

Be wary of internet buying

Police have urged internet users to be extra vigilant following the report from a caller at Fortlea, Derrylin.

The homeowner had complained to Police they purchased a powerwasher from ebay for £250 and posted a cheque to Nottinghamshire, but the goods were not received.

Police said people needed to be careful when internet shopping, and urged customers to check the security of what they are buying.

May Novena to Our Lady

Monaghan Charismatic Pray Group announced details of the Annual May Novena to Our Lady.

The Novena will be preached by Fr. Alfred Winshman and will be held in the St Louis Convent Chapel, Monaghan from 1st - 9th May inclusive.

The theme for the Novena is: 'I am the bread of Life' - John 6 v 35.

The programme for the Novena will be as follows: Thursday 1st - Rosary at 7.40pm, Opening Mass 8pm; Friday 2nd to Friday 9th (inclusive) Mass at 7.15am and 11.00am, individual confessions after 11am Mass, Eucharist Adoration at 11.45am and 7.30pm, Rosary at 7.40pm with Mass/ Session at 8.00pm.

Bishop Joseph Duffy will celebrate with Fr. Alfred at Tuesday's 11.00am Mass. Special Mass on Wednesday evening at 8.00pm with emphasis on youth. Mass will be concelebrated by Fr. Alfred and Fr Dermott.

Car parked overnight damaged

Police are appealing for information following a report of criminal damage to a car at the rear of a car park in Lisnaskea on Saturday last, 26th April.

Two windows were smashed in a blue Vauxhall Astra, including the front driver and passenger window.

The vehicle had been parked overnight at the rear of Mac's Bar.

There was also a small dent in the rear of the driver's side door.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact local police.
