Fergus's kind gesture

Fergus Fee, a very generous little boy from Tempo has contributed £145 to the Building Blocks Appeal, set up to raise money to open a new Children's Hospice Centre in Fermanagh.

Fergus had his seventh birthday in February and, instead of receiving gifts from his friends, he asked for donations to be made to the appeal

Fergus's brother Lawrence was cared for by Northern Ireland Children's Hospice and sadly passed away in August 2006, aged just three years old. The boys' parents, Margaret and Brendan, have been very involved in supporting the Children's Hospice, as mum Margaret explained: "When Fergus heard about the plans to open a centre in Fermanagh he decided to help by asking his friends to make a donation instead of giving presents."

Margaret said that they were delighted when they heard about the new facility. She said that it can be difficult travelling the long distance to the children's hospice in Newtownabbey with a life limited child whereas having a facility in the Fermanagh area would greatly benefit local life limited children and their families.

Ina Henry, Director of Income Generation and PR at the Children's Hospice commended Fergus for his generosity."This money makes such a difference to the lives of the young people we care for, without such kind gestures, we would be unable to develop our service locally."

You can contact the support group in Enniskillen to make a donation. Its treasurer, Derek Bowles can be contacted on 028 66 326 037.
