LISNASKEA ............................0-10
TEEMORE ................................2-8
Teemore who had led by two clear goals at the interval had to produce a finishing flourish to come out on top in this competive tussle with the Emmetts.
After a somewhat indifferent opening half, Lisnaskea had bounced back with growing conviction in the third quarter and they had struck over a string of unanswered points to haul themselves level and with ten minutes remaining the initiative appeared to be with them.
But Teemore who had been under the cosh were able to resurrect their effort and in the run up to the final whistle it was they who were able to raise the tempo of their game and they pierced through for the scores which clinched the opening day success.
Lisnaskea were to be overly dependent on the scoring touch of Mark Little the half forward eventually contributing the bulk of their ten points tally. Plus side for the Emmett's was the first appearance after a long absence due to injury of Daniel Kille and when he regains a measure of match fitness he will add to the impetus in the forward line.
Defensively the losing side were to be best served by Niall McElroy and Kevin Keenan with a steady display coming in from Josh McDermott.
As for Teemore, their top performers on the day included Paddy Donoghue in the full back line, Gerry Quinlan at midfield and Sean Curry in the attack.
Lisnaskea were to make the early running and popped over quick scores but the zip soon went out of their play and Teemore struck a decisive blow when they grabbed the first of their two first half goals.
Damian Lee was the man to finish off a movement which was carried in from the middle of the park and he beat goalkeeper Bob Robinson on a one on one situation. The score gave Teemore the lead and five minutes later they stretched further in front with their second goal. This was tucked away by Sean Curry who slipped in smartly to fire home a precise shot and the game had taken a distinct turn. But Lisnaskea were to show no shortage of character on the restart as they set about the task of recovering the lost ground.
They played with a renewed sense of urgency and they had Teemore backpedalling. Sixc points clipped over in a sprightly spell but they couldn't sustain the challenge to the finishing line. Teemore who had been pummelled finally got an important point to revive their flagging effort and they completed the job with three more scores as the Emmett's fell away, those late Teemore scores coming from Sean Curry, Declan Fitzpatrick and Gerry Quinlan.
