A 47-year-old Lisnaskea man faces a combined fine of £250 and has been disqualified until tested following a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
On the 9th September last year, Arthur Francis Mannix Maguire from Dernawilt Road was driving a Ford Focus along the Main Street of Lisnaskea when he was detected on a number of motoring charges, these being that he had no insurance, he was driving without consent, without a licence, and had failed to display 'L' plates.
Defending, Heather Phillips instructed by Murphy/McManus solicitors, said that the car belonging to the defendant's wife had broken down and he had driven to do the shopping.
She submitted that he had a young daughter who had died from spina bifida. She said that he had co-operated fully with the police and urged the RM to take Maguire's early plea into consideration before submitting that this was a man who had serious family difficulties.
For driving without insurance, Mr McNally imposed a £200 fine and disqualified Maguire until tested.
For driving without consent, he ordered a £50 fine.
For failing to display 'L' plates and for having no licence, he imposed a £50 fine each and disqualified him from driving until tested.
