BELNALECK ....................... 2-3
ST PATRICK'S .................... 3-4
Belnaleck had a fine start to this Erne Cup division two contest as they grabbed two early goals but they were unable to push on from there and though they did hold the lead at the interval, they were to falter in the second half, allowing St Patrick's to come through for the win.
So far it has been a case of mixed performances for Belnaleck and they will have their work cut out if they are to launch a challenge for a promotion slot. But in some ways this was a better effort from them though their forward line did find it increasingly hard going as the game advanced.
Defensively there were to be sound contributions for Belnaleck turned in by Stephen Budd and Martin Baxter with Conor McBrien and Dwayne McNulty also doing well for them but they did concede a three goal tally and the penalty was duly paid for that.
A real tonic opener for Belnaleck with Sean Lewisley punching home both the team's goals. The first arrived in the eighth minute and the second wasn't all that long in following. This established a solid platform but the effort then stalled and the only other score of the half was to be a point from Joseph Heavey.
St Patrick's had pulled a goal back by the time that the break was reached and their back division had been showing increasing signs that they had the Belnaleck attack well contained. The home side were to shoot just two further points, Brian Lewisley and Joseph Heavey on the scoresheet.
At the other end it was St Patrick's who were now making greater headway and they broke in for a two goal salvo plus three points to forge themselves into a four points winning margin.
