ST PATRICK'S .......................... 2-9
DERRYGONNELLY .................... 1-13
Derrygonnelly with Ryan Jones turning in a powerhouse individual display edged out St Patrick's by a single point in a competitive tussle. Jones was to finish as the game's leading marksman as he contributed a goal plus a clutch of points to his team's final score tally.
His goal which came in the middle stages of the second half was to haul his faltering side back into contention at a moment when the Donagh team looked to have pushed themselves into a matchwinning advantage.
St Patrick's had made the early pace and they were to be boosted by a quick goal, this coming from a close in scramble and they were to add on points from Conor Cadden and Sean Montgomery.
But they were not able to pull decisively ahead and Derrygonnelly kept themselves in the chase with an answering tally of seven points to bring the teams level at the interval.
St Patricks had second half points tapped over by Conor O'Neill and Conor Cadden and it was Cadden who notched their second goal.
The Jones goal in reply was to be a critical score and it gave the Harps the impetus to go and win the game.
But it was a tight affair which went right down to the wire and in truth the result could have gone either way. Offering strong support to the influential Jones for Derrygonnelly was defender Chris Farrell with Conal Jones, Maurice Cassidy and Stephen McGurn also doing well for them.
For St Patrick's Tommy McDermott was steady in the full back line and James McCann also impressed for the losing side.
Roslea
the better as they polish off Lisnaskea
ROSLEA ................................. 2-12
LISNASKEA .............................. 1-4
Roslea had too much in hand for Lisnaskea and the Shamrocks cruised to a comfortable success.
They didn't have the brightest of starts however and over the opening ten minutes it was the Emmetts who forced the pace. They were to pick up an early goal and at the end of the first quarter they had eased themselves four points to the good.
That goal was scored by Jake McCoy and with Niall O'Callaghan and Ryan O'Keefe shaping up lively in attack, Lisnaskea were promising.
But that was the best position they were to achieve.
As the game swung into the second quarter it was evident that Roslea were beginning to put their indifferent start behind them and in the lead up to the break, the game swung emphatically in their favour.
They contained what had been a threatening Lisnaskea forward line and they pressed forward themselves for a stream of scores that eventually brought them five points clear at the half time break.
Brendan Sherlock and Sean Quigley tossed over the bulk of their points with Gregory Connolly fisting home a 45 which had been lofted in by Conor Mulligan.
On the changeover the Roslea scoring rate was not to be so regular but they still chipped over isolated scores and ten minutes from time they dealt the faltering Lisnaskea hopes a killer blow when they shot home their second goal, this score coming from Brendan Sherlock. From this there was nover going to be a comeback.
In a Roslea defence which gave very little away from the start of the second quarter onwards, corner back Ciaran Murray and wing half back Paul McGinnitty both served up consistent displays.
For the defeated side defender Mark Smith was a diligent corner back and John Rice had his moments further up the park.
