End of an era for holiday association

The Fermanagh members of the Northern Ireland Farm and Holidays Association pictured at a dinner held recently at the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown.

The evening marked the end of the Association founded in 1970.

Over the years the Association played a major role in bringing large number of tourists from all over the world to the Province with members welcoming and hosting them in their farm and country homes. Many relationships were formed with a substantial number of guests returning year after year to renew old acquaintances; spending longer in the Province and savouring all the delights of good home cooking, home baking and wonderful accommodation.

However members have reason to be optimistic. A new Bed and Breakfast Partnership has been formed and to mark the occasion, six balloons – one for each county in the new Partnership- were released from Tullaghoe Fort, Cookstown.
