Antique collectors still seeking that once in lifetime opportunity to own one of Belleek Pottery's most renowned statues are running out of time to place their bids. Suspense and excitement in mounting as collectors have to the end of January to learn who has won the bidding war.

Anticipation is building amongst collectors across the world, all eagerly awaiting the chance to purchase the magnificent, 'Figure of Erin', the star attraction in Belleek's Limited Edition 2008 Archive Collection.

Comprising 16 pieces recreated from the company's design vaults, the collection represents various periods in the life and times of Ireland's oldest pottery.

The online auction for the Number One marked 'Figure of Erin' statue is expecting an unprecedented response as it is one of the most exclusive pieces ever to be introduced.

The phone lines are already inundated with enquiries from across the world, there are strong predictions of a record sale price. Only 20 statues have been crafted, adding to the figure's overall allure, and there have been six pre-orders.

The baseline retail value of the 20 statues is £7,500. However, for the Number One Marked Piece up for auction and, given the large international interest, the final sale value is expected to greatly increase.

Initially called 'Hibernia Awaking from her Slumbers', the statue symbolises the dawn of the Pottery and Ireland's embryonic entry into the world of industry. It was created regardless of cost or complexity, with the Pottery remaining committed to the highest of artistic principles.
