A Primary Seven pupil from St Mary's Primary School in Newtownbutler is celebrating winning the Northern Ireland final of the Environmental Youth Speak Competition.
Megan Gordon (11) represented Fermanagh at the Northern Ireland final, and her speech entitled, 'How Reducing Waste Can Benefit the Polar Bear' certainly impressed the judges.
She focused on three important issues for today's society: Recycling, saving energy and reducing carbon footprints.
As part of her preparation, Megan had practised her speech at the school assembly.
Her school reported that younger children were so enthused by Megan's presentation and so keen to follow her recommendations, they were now employing through simple steps to save on energy, such as turning off computers and lights when not in use.
Although this was only Megan's second public speaking competition, she is keen to develop her natural talent.
So dedicated is she that she missed out on her class trip in order to represent her school and county in the Youth Speak final.
