Kinawley police station site for sale

The site of Kinawley Police Station will be sold at auction at the end of next month.

A spokesperson for the NI Policing Board explained that the sale of the Station had been processed through the Surplus Assets Disposal which are in place when land is no longer required for policing purposes.

"These procedures offer the land firstly to the public sector and allow Government Departments who express an interest in buying the site to do so at a market value set by Land and Property Services, either for their own use or to act as a sponsor Department for community-based groups.

"No firm offer has been received and the land will be sold at auction at the end of June. Any interested party, including community groups, are welcome to bid for the site at market value. However, the land will not be offered to any community group at a reduced price."

Lisnaskea scouts

Scouts, cubs and beavers from 4th Fermanagh Lisnaskea have taken part in a sponsored walk to earn their centenary badge which Scouting Ireland have commissioned this year to celebrate 100 years of scouting in Ireland.

The badge is comprised of two parts. The bottom portion of the badge can be purchased in the Outdoor Adventure Store and worn by members of the Association for the year 2008.

The second badge may be worn by members who have completed a specific task.

And, the task was to carry out a project involving the number 100. The event had to be thought up, planned and carried out by Scouts themselves as a team.

Lisnaskea Scouts came up with the idea to get over 100 scouts with over 100 sponsors and walking a combined total of 100 miles. In carrying out the task, the group raised awareness to their 100 sponsors of the centenary and the forthcoming Jamboree. This will be held at Punchestown in July hosting 10,000 scouts from as far Florida, Canada, Australia and Holland.

Children raised £1,000, which will go towards subsidising the cost of attending the jamboree. The beavers raised £450, which they are donating to the Chernobyl children's appeal locally.
