A Lisnaskea taxi driver who was detected drink-driving has been disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined when he appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
Michael James Maguire (64) from Transa Way in Lisnaskea was detected on 20th April this year.
The court heard that on the date in question police received reports of a possible drink driver in a Vauxhall Vectra with 'Star Taxis' sign on the roof.
The black Vectra was spotted driving on the Tempo Road and police stopped the vehicle on the Castle Coole road and spoke to the driver, the defendant, who smelled of intoxicating liquor.
The defendant was arrested and taken to Enniskillen Police Station where he provided two specimens of breath for analysis, the lower reading of 63mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - 28 over the limit.
Defending, Bernard Corrigan said the defendant had been driving for over 40 years and he asked for credit for a plea at an early opportunity.
Mr Corrigan said his client had a couple of drinks over the course of a day but thought he was OK to drive. The court heard the defendant is also on medication.
Mr Corrigan told the court the defendant's career as a taxi driver will now end.
Resident Magistrate Liam McNally fined the defendant £200 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
