An Enniskillen man who was detected illegally fishing on the River Erne and who, when approached by Fisheries officers gave a false name has appeared before a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrates Court on a number of charges.
Pleading guilty to the offences before the court was Francis Hynes with an address at Hillview Park in Enniskillen.
The court heard that on 12th October 2007 officials approached the defendant who was fishing on the River Erne. A licensing permit was later produced by the defendant in the name of John Quinn. When the defendant was questioned he admitted he was not John Quinn and apologised for giving the wrong identity. For using a fishing engine on the River Erne without obtaining a permit the defendant was fined £100. For unlicensed angling a fine of £50 was imposed. For intending to deceive fisheries officers by presenting a fishing licence in someone else's name he was fine £100. For failing to give officials his name and address he was fined £250 while for impeding a fisheries officer exercising their powers a fine of £100 was imposed.
John Christopher Joseph Quinn, also from Hillview Park was fined £250 for impeding a person exercising his powers under Part XI of Fisheries Act while he was fined £100 for aiding and abetting in the commission of an offence namely the presentation of a licence in the name of another person.
