Ards swimming Club hosted its annual Junior gala at the weekend for swimmers age 9 to 11. Enniskillen Lakelander Sally Burrell made it a memorable last trip to Ards, bringing home the top girl award for the 11 year old age group.

Although tied on points with last years winner Ellen Mooney, the decision was made on medals won, which just put Sally ahead, having taken gold in the 50m butterfly, silver in the 50m breaststroke, bronze in the 50m freestyle and fourth place in the 50m backstroke.

Abbie Parkinson was also competing in this age group, narrowly missing out on finals, but producing some fine new personal best times along the way.

Ryan Ballantine, the only Enniskillen swimmer in the 10 yearr session, swam well in this his first major competition .

In the nine and under age group the Lakelanders were represented by Molly Parkinson, Cliona Burchmore, Amy Hand and one of the youngest competitors of the day seven year old Ella Hand.

For all the girls it was the first time competing at this level and they produced a string of PB's, all finishing in the top 20 or better in all four strokes in a field of nearly 60 swimmers.
