Ernemen
can do it

SEAN MAGUIRE – ST PATRICK'S

" I think that Fermanagh will do it. I know that there is a lot of expectation among Monaghan support and that they are very confident about their prospects but this could be a danger for the team. Such attitudes, try as the management may, have a habit of seeping through to the players. A bit like Fermanagh after 2004 when expectation was particularly high.

And yet there are many in Monaghan who would hold the view that Fermanagh are something of a bogey team to them.

There is not a great deal between these teams at any time. But I think that overall Fermanagh are the better balanced side. Obviously there will be a major threat posed by Thomas Freeman but he can be curbed, and the Fermanagh defence has shown that they can be a mean one. Paul Finlay is another key figure for Monaghan but he can be inconsistent. The personnel is there in the Fermanagh defence to do the job of work required.

If Fermanagh hit form then I believe that they will win."

VINNY CONNOLLY – N'BUTLER

"To be honest I think that Fermanagh have a great chance. If we get a solid base in the middle of the park and thus cut down the supply into the Monaghan forward line then we can win. And I think that the Fermanagh midfield with Mark Murphy playing well at the moment will take this sector.

But to win Fermanagh will certainly have to play terribly well. Monaghan will be giving this match their all. This Monaghan team have been around now for a few years and I would think that they believe this is going to be a really big year for them so they will be coming into Brewster Park a very determined team indeed. But Brewster Park will also be an asset to Fermanagh."

BART O'BRIEN –DEVENISH

"We have a few defensive problems I think, things which surfaced in the league final with Wexford. But in hindsight that game could be of benefit to Fermanagh a kind of wake up call if you like.

If we get the balance right then I think that we can do it. We should be able to win the midfield area which would be crucial. Mark Murphy is currently playing extremely well here. Who partners him will be a big decision for the team management as will be the decisions taken on the make up of the full back line.

I expect a close game but with this being the first game back in Brewster Park and with solid home support to get behind the team I believe Fermanagh can come through."

BRIAN TREACY – BELCOO

"The fact that Monaghan lost their last two league games would I think give grounds for optimism that Fermanagh can win this game. But to counter balance that there was Fermanagh's game with Wexford in the league final which showed up some defensive weaknesses.

However the Fermanagh team ethic is strong. We should be able to hold our own in the middle of the park. Defensively we may be looking for a really big performance from a player such as Shane Goan.

The fact that the game is in Brewster Park will hopefully be an added boost to us, worth a couple of points."
