A 22-year-old bricklayer from Lisnaskea has been fined £300 and disqualified from driving for four weeks following a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrate's Court.
Resident Magistrate Peter Murphy heard how on the 13th April last year, police on the A4 road at Tamlaght observed a car vehicle engine running and keys in the ignition. The driver, Niall John Reihill from Trasna Way, Lisnaskea was asked to exit the vehicle. He was both unsteady on his feet and there was a strong smell of intoxicating liquor of his breath. A later sample test revealed 88 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milligrams of breath.
Defending, Bernard Corrigan told the Court that the vehicle had been parked in a lay-by and both the defendant and his passenger were asleep and had to be wakened. He further submitted that Reihill was a 22-year-old mechanic who had passed his test in January 2008.
Mr Murphy imposed a £300 fine and disqualified Reihill from driving a period of four weeks.
