A 25-year-old Ballinamallard man has been banned from driving for 12 months and fined £250 after a drink driving charge brought him before Fermanagh Magistrate's Court.
District Judge Liam McNally heard how at 1.15am on October 25, police were on mobile patrol on the Irvinestown Road Enniskillen when they observed a Vauxhall Astra driving erratically and crossing the white line several times.
The driver, Johnathan Coalter from Ferney View, was stopped and officers detected a strong smell of intoxicating liquor of the his breath. He said he had consumed alcohol earlier. He failed a preliminary breath test and was conveyed to Enniskillen police station where an evidential sample revealed 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Defending, Aubrey Murray said his client was a 25-year-old single man who was in full-time employment. He submitted that he had been driving for eight years and had a clear licence. He said he was deeply embarrassed to find himself before the court and had fully co-operated with police. He asked for credit for his early plea.
Mr McNally said he would consider his clear record and early plea. He imposed a 12 month ban and £250 disqualification.
