James excels in Scotland

James Speight competed in the Scottish Indoor Athletics Age Group Championships in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

He was competing in the U-15 boys 1,500m. This was a highly competitive event, with Shane Quinn, the AAA (British Champion) also competing.

Nevertheless, James ran a highly competitive race. James was in second place for most of the race, just getting past at the last 400m. He ran extremely well and just missed out on a medal, finishing in 5th place in a time of 4.55.

This was a very good performance from James, considering that he has been focusing on the cross country season and his training has been mainly endurance based. He will be able to lower his time further once he starts speed work in preparation for the track season.
