Sharon was both captain and coach for the Club. Sharon's coaching expertise came to the fore as she help establish the Champion Coaching programme in Fermanagh, while regionally, she coached the Western squad and Ulster squads. Sharon, in 2006, after a period of umpiring, retired from the sport.
Joe has been involved for 53 years within GAA. He has been involved in all levels with the organisation. For the last 14 years, he has been Chairman of the County Board during which time the Fermanagh team has achieved success and honours that have never been achieved before.
Joe has also been instrumental in the development of new facilities at Lissan, the provision of lighting at Brewster Park and the rollout of coaching structures and coach development within the county.
There was also a special guest presentation to Graham Little, who spent a year (2005) travelling the world in an attempt to win a world title in any discipline. This took him to seven different countries in seven months and nine different disciplines.
These included the likes of the world nettle eating championships, bog snorkling and swamp football. This culminated with Graham surviving a bout of dysentery to captain the Ireland Elephant Polo team to victory at the World Elephant Polo Championships at the Royal Chitwan National Park in Nepal.
John O'Kane, Chairman of Fermanagh District Council said, "We are very proud of all our sportsmen and women, competing at every level, from the lowest leagues, to those who have achieved international status and recognition. We know that all these athletes perform to the best of their ability and they compete with great enthusiasm.
"Whatever their sport, and whatever their success, we acknowledge their achievements and hard work and we hope that their dedication will continue to bring them success within their respective sports."
In 2006, the Council, in partnership with Disability Sports Northern Ireland and the Sports Council Northern Ireland, refurbished the fitness room in the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum as part of an Inclusive Leisure Project.
The Council is making a £2million investment in the Lakeland Forum, as well as developing two new 3G synthetic training surfaces at the Lakeland Forum and the Castle Park Centre, Lisnaskea.
It is through the provision of facilities such as these, and the operation of our silver card scheme that the Council can help create the environment in which local athletes can strive towards high levels of participation, leading to even greater success for our county. Through the local Sports Advisory Committee, the Council has provided finance and support to help develop sport at grassroots.
The Sports Advisory Committee must be complimented on another outstanding year's work. A wide range of sporting activities, at all levels of participation, have been assisted through the Committee's grant-aid schemes.
Graham Little said that it never ceased to amaze him how many champions Fermanagh continued to produce in so many sports.
"I'm so proud to be from Fermanagh. What a unique people and place we have," he said, adding that he looked forward to the day when Portora and St Michael's College would compete in their respective provincial finals on St Patrick's Day.
