Sing, dance and laugh away the January Blues


As the January blues really start to take hold, don't despair there are a wide range of courses on offer across the County to help you sing, dance and laugh your way fit through 2008.

Organised by Fermanagh District Council is delighted to launch The Art of Regeneration Winter timetable offers an extensive list of workshops for adults.

Back by popular demand, the highly successful contemporary dance programme with Dylan Quinn starts on Wednesday 16th January (7:30 –10pm) at the Cathedral Hall Enniskillen and will run for 12 weeks. Get fit and have fun whilst learning techniques and moves. Wear comfortable clothing.

A six week beginners programme, made up of contemporary and salsa dancing taught by Dylan Quinn starts next Tuesday the 15th January (8:00- 10:00pm) at Dooneen Education Centre Tempo.

A six-week programme for adult beginners introducing the ancient form of set dancing starts on Thursday 10th January (8:00- 10:00pm) at the Cathedral Hall Enniskillen. Taught by Brenda Murphy this is an excellent ways to get fit have fun while learning to dance. Wear comfortable clothing and non- rubber footwear

Tailored for adult beginners, this six-week programme at the Higher Bridges Gallery Clinton Centre Enniskillen workshops offer tuition in traditional music from professional musicians.

Workshops for both Flute and Fiddle commence on Saturday 19th January 2008 (Fiddle 12- 2pm & Flute 3 - 5pm). Please brings your own instrument

Tell your story your way, join the highly successful storytelling circle for adults every Friday night (starting Friday 11th January) from: 7.30 – 9.30pm at the Clinton Centre Enniskillen.

This is a 12 week programme.

Or in Lisnaskea storytelling is every Monday night (7:30 – 9:30pm) at the Share Centre Arts Arena, Lisnaskea, Seamas Mac Anniadh will guide on a literary journey of folklore indigenous to the area. This a 6-week programme for Adults.

Script writing in Tempo will continued on Tuesdays (7.30- 9.30pm). Seamas Mac Anniadh will facilitate an adult programme exploring the art of scriptwriting at Dooneen Education Centre Tempo. Suitable for all levels. This a 6-week programme.

To celebrate the great Scottish Poet Robert Burns Fermanagh District Council has scheduled a fantastic weekend of music, literature, dance and children's workshops which will run from the 25 to 26 January.

The 25th January kicks off with a night of Traditional Music with Jim McGrath and friends of the Ulster Scots and Irish Tradition. There will be dance and literature readings as well as the launch of an exhibition entitled 'Word on the Walls' which will be in the gallery all starting at 8pm sharp.

On Saturday 26th January, during the day there will be two children's workshops with Literature and Carnival Artists in Residence Seamas Macanny and Genevieve Murphy, further details from the Co-ordinator Jackie McKeever at 028 6772 2122 places limited and booking essential.

Then later on the night of Saturday 26th there will be a night of Traditional Ballad singing to celebrate the Great Robert Burns and other songsters who influenced Burns and the wonderful Tradition of ballad singing itself with six of the best singers from Ireland and Scotland featuring Scotland's Geordie McIntyre and Alison McMorland from Dunblane, Len Graham, Brian Mullan from Northern Ireland and other singers from Antrim and Fermanagh, it starts at 8pm.
