Majella weighs up her options

Majella Millar has always struggled with her weight and, in the past has had varying degrees of success.

Following the breakdown of her marriage last year, Majella re-gained the weight she had worked so hard to lose and turned to Slimming World for help.

She hasn't looked back since. She has now made a career with the very organisation that gave her the motivation and support to change her life.

Majella is the Slimming World Consultant for Derrylin and has just opened a new group in Enniskillen Library which meets every Thursday.

Majella explains her story.

"I have always been overweight and I tried everything, every fad and every gimmick diet to lose it. Sometimes I was successful, sometimes I wasn't. I had been doing quite well with my own business until I had a difficult family break up last year.

DISCOVERED

"It was then I discovered that I didn't have a support network around me that I could rely on. I felt I was completely on my own and felt under immense pressure. I very quickly gained 2 stone and was back up to 14 stone 7 lbs before I knew it.

"It wasn't my heaviest weight as I had been over 20 stone before ,but my quality of life was suffering. I was moody and had no energy to do things with my son, Jordan who is only 10 years old. I felt I had to do something about it for both of us.

"When I went shopping for clothes nothing fitted me, which also affected my self esteem. I discovered Slimming World in my area because my cousin, Gail Simpson is the Consultant for Enniskillen and Lisnaskea.

"She encouraged me to give it a go. I had nothing to lose but weight, so I decided to try it. I couldn't believe how welcome I was made to feel, and I knew that this offered the kind of group support I didn't have when I needed it most. It has been a really life changing experience for me."

Majella went on: "This time last year I didn't know what direction my life was going in. Now here I am sharing my own weight loss success by helping other people on their journey with my Slimming World Group in Derrylin and now Enniskillen".

MORNING GROUP

She said she had decided to open a morning group because Enniskillen was such a busy town and many people with families were finding it hard to get out to a group in the evenings.

"We want to make sure that even the busiest people have the opportunity to reach their weight loss targets. Since joining myself last Easter, I have already lost over one stone of the weight I gained and I am getting my confidence back".

Majella's new group meet at the Library in Enniskillen every Thursday morning at 10am and on Thursday evenings at 5.30 and 7.30. The Derrylin group meet every Tuesday at 5.30 and 7pm in Blake's of Derrylin.

For further information or to join please contact Majella on 0035387 6513695.
