Fermanagh District Council has scheduled a Winter Cultural weekend to celebrate the life, writing and songs of the great Scottish Poet Robert Burns on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th January.
On Friday 25th January at 8pm in the Higher Bridges Gallery at the Clinton Centre, Enniskillen the Arts Office at Fermanagh District Council have organised a free Burns evening of Scottish Traditional Music with Jim McGrath (TG4 Traditional Composer 2007) and Friends - Interactive Scottish Dancing with Mary Fox from the Belfast Set Dancers and Poetry readings with the evenings compáre and Art of Regeneration Writer in Residence Seamas MacAnnaidh as well as the launch of the Visual Arts exhibition 'Words on the Wall' will take place (neeps, tattis and haggis are also on the agenda!
Saturday 26th January during the day there will be two Art of Regeneration Programme Childrens Cultural workshops : Story Telling and Wacky Puppetmaking with artists in Residence Seamas MacAnnaidh Genevieve Murphy.

On Saturday 26th night the Arts Office will host a very unusual night of Traditional Scottish and Irish unaccompanied ballad singing to celebrate Robert Burns, those who influenced him and other great songsters within the Tradition of ballad singing with 8 of the best singers from Northern Ireland, Scotland starting at 8pm featuring Cahal McConnell (Fermanagh / of Boys of the Lough), Len Graham (Armagh / Tyrone), Brian Mullen (Derry), John Kennedy (Ballymena), Johnny Fyffe (Rathlin Island) ,Geordie McIntyre and Alison McMorland (from Dunblane Scotland) Alison & Geordie are performing also in this January's Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, one of the biggest Traditional Arts Festivals in the world, The Burns Weekend is free and sponsored by Tha Boord o Ulstér-Scotch, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Fermanagh District Council. All evening events will start at 8pm.
A real opportunity to view merged traditions and get an insight into the fabulous words, songs and music of Burns and the local Fermanagh Tradition which is directly influenced by Scottish traditions.
