Quinn oulines future plans

Club Éirne held a pre championship function in the Enniskillen Gaels clubhouse with a large attendance of members present.

Chairman Peter Quinn in a brief address outlined the fund raising work which the Club was currently embarked on, one of the high profile events coming up in the near future being the Golf Classic at the Slieve Russell Hotel.

In 2009 the key event will be a Day at the Ulster Derby and already preliminary arrangements are being laid down for that.

He went on to note that the onward drive to increase membership was making progress and it was hoped that the target set would be realised by the end of the year.

The considerable monies being raised by the Club are being channelled into a number of areas, chief of which are allocation of funds for county team requirements, financing of development squads, Lissan development etc.

In regard to the Lissan development he stated that enormous work had been done here especially over the recent months and the facility was of the highest standard.

This type of facility was absolutely crucial for the well being of the county teams and the development of the GAA in the county.

County chairman Peter Carty warmly thanked the Club for the unstinting support which they were giving to the promotion of Gaelic Games in the county. Without that financial support the county simply couldn't achieve what it was achieving.

The chairman was conscious that clubs also had their own fundraising needs and they couldn't carry two burdens.

Both Club and County chairmen spoke glowingly of the huge amount of work and meticulous preparation which had been put in by the county team management and the county panels, particularly for the upcoming championship game.

The evening was wrapped up by a short question and answer session with senior team manager Malachy O'Rourke.

The manager also expressed the appreciation of all involved with the county panel at the way which their requirements had been met.
