Belle Isle in line for £40,000 prize

The Belle Isle School of Cookery is in line to win a £40,000 UK competition prize, depending on the number of votes and the decision of a judging panel. The restaurant has been nominated as a Local Food Hero for the 2008 UKTV awards. The on-line voting site is at www.uktvfood.co.uk - (key in 'Belle Isle School of Cookery' and our postcode, BT945HG, register and vote). Voting ends on July 14th. This is the third year of the competition for which the organisers scour the length and breadth of the nation to find those businesses that help put great food on our plates.

"The UKTV Local Food Hero Awards", said a spokesperson, " are a tribute to our independent food businesses".

Once votes are in, an independent panel of judges selects the five best nominees in each region that best demonstrate commitment to producing, selling or serving exceptional food.
