Wednesday saw the launch of the Northern Ireland National Asda kwik cricket tournament where Enniskillen schools will be taking part in the competition from May to July this summer.
They will be competing to try and qualify for the Northern Ireland national final which will take place in Belfast on the 24th June at Stormont.
2500 year 6 children from Northern Irish primary schools across the country will be taking part to try and become national champion, and qualify for the UK final which will take place in July at Grace Road County ground in Leicestershire, in the biggest competition for this age group.
The local Asda store at Enniskillen will be supporting the events, coming down to the games and handing out food and drinks to the young players.
Asda are sponsoring the event to try and get kids healthy and active, and the tournament gives the year 6 children this opportunity, as well as developing their cricket.
The launch took place on Wednesday at the Dundonald Asda store in Belfast where Kyle McCallan, Ireland's most capped cricketer of all time, took time out to come down and support the event. He played a game with kids from one of the local schools who will be competing in the tournament.
"There are plenty of examples of players first being introduced to the game by this form of cricket and going all the way to the top.
"I'm particularly pleased to lend a hand," said McCallan.
The Asda Kwik Cricket competition is a year 6 tournament that is set to involve 130,000 children across Scotland, England, Wales and Scotland.
The competition begins on a local level, and successful teams continue to progress through regional finals until ultimately they reach the UK final. Northern Ireland are represented at the UK final by the Northern Ireland Champion.
A modified format of cricket focusing on the game's core skills and rules, Kwik Cricket has involved nearly one million children in its structured county, regional and national competitions since it's inception in 1988.
