10 K teams

The annual Enniskillen Rotary 10k is to be held on 21st June this year. This year, the main sponsor is Tesco and the official charity is Marie Curie.

The event attracts hundreds of runners and walkers from Fermanagh and beyond. Every year many entrants choose to train and run in groups. The Herald is going to run a regular feature in the weeks leading up to the event focussing on groups of people preparing to run or walk the course on 21st June.

Some of these groups will be doing the event to raise money for a charity which is close to their heart. Others will be doing it to win a team prize or just to beat the team from the office across the street. Other groups want to do it to prove they can despite adversity such as disability and others are just getting together for the 'craic'.

If you want to tell us about your group of people who are training for the 10k just contact Karen Dolan (karendolan1000@yahoo.co.uk) O7811396513 or Ray Sanderson at Fermanagh Herald 02866322066.

1. Names of everyone in Group:

Gus Wilson

Jason Love

Jimmy Farry

Paul Mortimer

Anne-Marie Clarke

Diane Braden

Ross McAdam

Ross Gibson

2. How do you all know each other?

We all work in Tescos in Enniskillen

3. Why are you doing the Enniskillen 10k?

We all know someone who has lost someone to cancer and the Tesco chosen charity for this year is Marie Curie cancer care.

4. How much training have you done?

Gus is training because he is the oldest and has to, however the rest are depending on their youth getting them round.

5. Do you hope to win a prize or is the aim to finish the event?

We won't win any prizes, we just want to complete and raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause. 70 minutes would be ok.

6. How do you think will be first home out of your group and how long will it take them?

Jason Love in around 65 minutes.

Remember, if you want to compete for a prize for your team you must have five runners and all five must finish. It does not cost any extra to enter as a team as well as in the individual categories. There are three categories of team: male, female and mixed.

Mixed teams must have at least two females.
