Enniskillen Campus students turned out in their numbers at Necarne as the Northern Region point to point season was brought to a close for another year.

This was an excellent opportunity for the racing students to exhibit skills developed at College during the year in front of a home crowd. As expected, the Campus racing team did not disappoint.

On the Friday evening Enniskillen Campus had four runners. The Winners of race three saw Rhonda Armstrong get her first opportunity on the recently purchased Fogonthetyne. Rhonda led the race setting a strong pace for the other jockeys to follow until the last fence where she was unlucky to part company from her mount. None the worse for this, Rhonda was again in action in the Ladies Open to finish in second place on Hunters Tweed, cheered home by some enthusiastic local support. The college-owned Master Florian was placed third in the same race partnered by former graduate Brea Donnelly.

On Saturday, National Diploma student, Barry McCormick rode Fogonthetyne in the Open Race. Not to be out-done by the girls the previous evening, Barry showed maturity and skill to have Fogonthetyne well placed and jumping well throughout the race only to be beaten into a close second.

Over the weekend, Enniskillen students also took the opportunity to gain further practical experience at the races. The horses were turned out to a high standard and the students' efforts were rewarded with a "Best Turned Out" prize for Fogonthetyne. A number of industry representatives also commented very favourably about the College horses and students.

Throughout the year Enniskillen students have achieved a very high standard on the local point-to-point circuit especially considering that they were competing against Ireland's leading horses and jockeys.
