Housing Executive staff on the move

A number of staff from the Enniskillen office of the Housing Executive office, located in Riverview House on Head Street are on the move following a restructuring of the service.

Fears over the future of jobs in the Enniskillen office were raised with the Housing Executive and a spokesperson for the organisation moved to allay these fears. She explained this was a relocation rather than a jobs cut, and that staff had been consulted on the changes to decide if their individual circumstances were suitable for a transfer. She went on to say that although 14 posts associated with the Housing Benefit and rent accounting functions will move to Omagh Area Office, the actual number of staff required to move is still being finalised.

The spokesperson explained the change had come about as a result of the Housing Executive reviewing its working arrangements across the Province in line with the Modernising Government programme.

As a result of this review, she added: "The Housing Executive will be moving services such as the processing of Housing Benefit claims and management of rent accounts from local offices to its Area Offices. Key services such as housing, homelessness, estate management, maintenance and local community development will continue to be delivered by local offices."

Outlining this in a Fermanagh context she explained: "Both the District Office and the Private Sector Grants Office are located in Riverview House, Head Street, Enniskillen.

"Some staff from the District Office will be relocated to the Omagh Area Office to deal with the Housing Benefit and rent accounting functions. However, the Housing Executive office will remain at Riverview House and will deal with services outlined above as well as private sector grants."
