A motorist detected driving while three times over the legal drink-drive alcohol limit has been fined £350 and disqualified from driving for 15 months when she appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.
Shirley Catherine Curry (38) with an address at Chestnut Grove, Killywillin in Enniskillen appeared before the court where she pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol on 11th May this year.
The court heard that on the date in question police stopped the defendant driving along Old Henry Street in Enniskillen.
The defendant failed a preliminary breath test and was arrested and taken to Enniskillen Police Station where she provided two specimens of breath, the lower reading being 106mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - 71 in excess of the legal limit.
Defending, Bernard Corrigan described the defendant as a shop assistant who lives with her daughter.
Mr Corrigan explained how around the time of this detection the defendant was going through a stressful family matter and things simply got on top of her.
Mr Corrigan said his client had a limited record but nothing of a relevant nature.
District Judge Bonita Boyd noted the defendant was three times over the legal drink-drive limit, but Mr Corrigan asked the court to mitigate this with a long conviction free driving record prior to this.
