Criminal damage was the charge faced by Cathal Martin Dolan (23) from Main Street, Maguiresbridge when he appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court recently.
The court heard that on 5th October last year police attended an address in Maguiresbridge following a call from the injured party.
Police saw the defendant running from the rear of the property shouting, "I done it. Take me away'. Police officers observed the defendant had blood on his hand.
It transpired the defendant had smashed a window at the rear of the property and when arrested by police for criminal damage he repeated the admission, 'I done it. I broke the window'.
At the time the defendant wasn't fit, through drink, to be interviewed and was released. The damage to the window was costed at £105.75.
Defending, Garry Smyth said his client had funds with him to deal with the damage.
The defendant was described as a full-time plumber and Mr Smyth told the court the defendant had been in a relationship with the injured party which had ended.
The defendant wanted communication between them to cease and during a discussion between them he banged on the window, breaking it.
The defendant accepts he broke the window and accepts he had drink taken. Mr Smyth pointed out his client waited at the scene for police and admitted his guilt.
District Judge Bonita Boyd said she had considered a custodial sentence in this case but decided to imposed 150 community service order on the defendant.
