BROOKEBORO ................... 1-7
LISNASKEA ...................... 1-11
Brookeboro on their home soil failed to deliver what would have been their first win of the season when they were unable to sustain the bright effort that they had produced for most of the opening three quarters of the match.
In a rather low scoring opening half, just seven scores in all recorded, the key score had been the Brookeboro goal which jumped them into the lead and it was a lead which they were to maintain until the final quarter was well underway.
A win was in the offing but Brookeboro stalled in the final ten minutes and Lisnaskea were able to step up the pace to squeeze out the win in the end.
Early points from Thomas McElroy and Aiden Boyle had signalled a committed Brookeboro effort though the Emmetts had kept in touch with answering scores, Daniel Kille again the leading marksman for them.
Key score of the half though was the Brookeboro goal, a high ball floated into the 'Skea goal mouth where it was touched on by Kieran Donnelly and Niall Rooney, opportunistic as ever, was on hand to pounce for possession and he slammed in the shot.
That goal separated the sides at the interval and in the third quarter it was strong, forceful running through the heart of the park from McElroy which drove forward the Brookeboro effort. He shot a couple of points with Lisnaskea having to work hard to stay within range.
This the Emmetts managed to do with substitute John Woods and the reliable Daniel Kille both on the mark and as the game swung into the final ten minutes the lead had been clawed down to two points.
Next score up was the decisive Lisnaskea goal, Brookeboro goalkeeper Ciaran Stewart managing to block out a shot but the rebound spilled to Stephen Carters who knocked up the chance. That nudged Lisnaskea ahead and boosted by this they finished the game on a spirited note with a couple of more scores, final one being a successful 45 steered over by placekicker Kille.
For Lisnaskea, Stephen Carters was one of their more bustling forwards on view, Kevin Curran was diligent at half back and Daniel Kille was again steady with his marksmanship.
For Brookeboro, Michael Rice worked manfully at corner back and Thomas McElroy with Paddy Woods featured around the middle of the park but the team lost it's way in run in and there will be disappointment at the failure to last the pace.
