Collegiate gets in celebratory mood

Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School, this academic year, 2006/2007 are celebrating their 75th anniversary of its current site in Cooper Crescent.

To mark the occasion, the school has published a commemorative booklet. The school is also looking forward to their anniversary dinner which takes place in the Killyhevlin Hotel later in the year.

The School Council, which brings together elected representatives from each class in the school, has produced a booklet, 'Now and Then', which compares and contrasts aspects of school life throughout the years.

As research for the booklet, the Council issued a questionnaire to present and past pupils and were delighted when they got responses from as far away as Australia.

Members also carried out interviews with various past pupils and were able to produce in print the reminiscences from different eras of the Collegiate story going right back to the 1930's.

Copies of the booklet are available from the Collegiate at £4.

They will also be on sale at the annual Old Collegians dinner in the Killyhevlin Hotel this Friday, 8th of June. If you wish to attend this event, please contact Ethel Irvine 66324022.

The 75th anniversary celebrations will also continue with an anniversary dinner which is planned for Thursday, 4th of October, again in the Killyhevlin Hotel. It is hoped that this will be an opportunity for all Collegians, past and present as well as friends of the Collegiate.

For further information and tickets, please contact the school on 66322165. Details are also available on the school website, www.enniskillencollegiate.org.uk

There will also be the traditional House Plays' competition taking place towards the end of Autumn.
