The focus was put on the media yesterday, Tuesday, with a series of events by Beyond Computing at South West College, Enniskillen.

The launch of Beyond Computing's new technology facility on Wednesday showcased the industry standard media production equipment and software costing in excess of £30,000, which has been acquired as part of the ICBAN funded project in conjunction with its cross-border partners in Sligo Institute of Technology.

'Beyond Computing' is part-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IIIA Programme, managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the ICBAN partnership. The college hopes that the service will help introduce businesses and community organisations in the ICBAN region to the innovation potential of media technology while allowing the college in conjunction with media specialist partners to provide training and support to meet the needs of client groups. Potential careers available in the sector were highlighted on Thursday with a free career in the media event. The seminar proved invaluable to students in schools across the region considering a career in media and media production.

Project Manager, Dr Fergal Tuffy, highlights the importance of embracing the media. He comments:

"The new technology service will strengthen cross-border business relations and will educate local businesses and the community of the potential of media technology. By highlighting careers in the media we are investing in our future innovation potential in the region."
