ASDA Enniskillen is celebrating this week after registering record sales in excess of £1 million, following over 38,000 customer transactions. The figure is more than double the average weekly takings compared to those recorded this time last year.
The massive rise in sales is attributed to the increased popularity of the store since its £20million re-site in August 2007. The store now boasts the full range of food, fresh produce counters, home-wares, George clothing and a customer cafeteria to the area. The investment also resulted in 140 new full and part-time jobs for the area.
The Enniskillen re-site has also proved popular with cross-border customers thanks to its close proximity to the Republic of Ireland. Euro-spend accounts for almost 20% of the store's total sales as shoppers take advantage of the full ASDA offering.
Peter Beckett, General Store Manager of ASDA Enniskillen, has been overwhelmed with the reaction to the refurbished store. "The response from local shoppers has been incredible.
"We thought our extended range and low prices would prove popular in the area, but we've been bowled over with just how busy the new store has been; even ten months later."
Although fears of the credit crunch and rising food prices have dogged the headlines in recent months, ASDA Enniskillen has demonstrated its low prices and wide ranging choice of products are still proving popular.
"With increasing demands on customers' pockets, our priority is working hard with our suppliers to keep prices, not just of individual products, but of the average basket, as low as possible.
"For 10 consecutive years ASDA has been declared the UK's cheapest supermarket, and this hard work is now reflected in these great sales figures," said Mr Beckett.
