NORTH FERMANAGH 1ST V DRUMMOND
North Fermanagh 1st played host to Limavady side Drummond in a Senior 2 league match on Saturday and went into the game with expectations high having won their two previous league games, and with some of their batsmen showing some great form.
On a very gloomy and wet day at Crevenish Road and with the game reduced to 40 overs per side North Fermanagh won the toss and elected to bat.
In form Emlyn Andrews and Niall Murray produced an excellent opening partnership and put on ninety one for the first wicket.
Andrews was again in tremendous form following his 99 not out the previous Sunday and was scoring freely to all parts of the ground, but with his score on 64 he caught a top edge and was caught off the bowling of McDaid. Murray proved he has the patience of an opening batsman and he finished with a patient 25.
North Fermanagh then lost three quick wickets and Drummond must have felt they had made the vital opening having got Wilson, Roulston and Wattleworth for a combined total of three runs.
Ainen Murray scored 32 late on and North Fermanagh finished on 174 all out.
Drummond's reply was well crafted and following the loss on Hill for 1 from the bowling of Wattleworth the professional (Butt) was joined by the hard hitting Moore who were to take the game away from North Fermanagh.
Jim Maguire and Wattleworth bowled extremely well but with Butt and Moore in excellent form Drummond ran out winners by six wickets with Butt (65) and Moore (86 no) insuring victory with four overs to spare.
NORTH FERMANAGH 2NDS V CRINDLE
North Fermanagh 2nds travelled to Crindle on Saturday and produced a fighting display in an Intermediate 4 league game but were beaten by thirty two runs.
Crindle batted first and scored 167 all out with Gary Armstrong the main wicket taker for the visitors finishing with 5 for 43 from his eight overs. Crindle's total could have been a lot less if North Fermanagh had held on to at least six easy catches in the field.
David Mills finished with three for 40 from his eight overs to once again underline his all round ability and Andrew Nevan chipping in with figures of two for 39 from his eight overs
North Fermanagh's reply got off to a steady start with five batsmen reaching double figures and with captain Rob Black top scoring on 34 not out it proved a frustrating day for the visitors.
On a day when lady luck deserted them North Fermanagh would feel a little unlucky to have lost a game they felt very capable of winning
This Saturday the 1sts travel to Burndennett in the league and the 2nds play Killyclooney in the Intermediate 'C' cup semi final at Crevenish Rd at 1pm.
