Motorists who regularly travel along the Boa Island Road will not have failed to notice the awkward looking telephone pole which has been left literally 'in the middle of nowhere'.
One concerned driver who regularly travels along this route, the A47, contacted the 'Herald' to raise her concerns, with the help of a photograph.
She explained: "The ditch on the left hand side of the photograph was dug up for something a number of months ago, and the ditch was left like this with just stones on it.
"The tar on the road is nearly gone," she outlined, "but the pole issue is ridiculous. It must be like that a year now and all you need is for the arrow sign to be removed and on a dark winter's night someone could easily become a cropper."
Henry Robinson, from Roads Service explained that his department was aware of the problem; however, he was unable to provide any idea when the pole might be realigned.
Mr Robinson explained the situation had arisen as work was carried out to widen the road. He insisted there are proposals to move the pole, in partnership with BT, but he had no time-frame for when this would happen.
When pressed if the matter would be resolved before the dark winter nights set in, Mr Robinson was unable to give this reassurance.
