Derrylin-born Paul Ennis (34), who now lives in Killesher hasn't just a mountain to climb, he has four, and all for a charitable cause.
The computer technician is aiming to conquer the highest peaks in the four home countries, starting on Thursday, 3rd July with Slieve Donard, then Snowdonia, at 11 o'clock that night and then Scaffell Pike the next day and finishing with Ben Nevis which he intends going up in the early hours of Friday night/Saturday morning.
But, he is not undaunted at the prospect. For instance, he climbed Ben Nevis in 2003 for the same charity as this year, the Ulster Cancer Foundation. It is the highest of the four peaks.
Paul will be heading off on his own early on Thursday morning to tackle Slieve Donard, but he expects he will make friends along the path, and he has no doubts about his fitness.
"I'm in good enough shape. I've been trying to get in a bit of practice. No, I don't play football, but I do hill walking, mostly Binn Mountain and Cuilcagh. It usually takes me 40 minutes to do Binn and three hours up and down Cuilcagh.
Apart from his hiking gear, Paul will be taking very little with him for the climbs, a flask for a hot drink and a bottle of water.
