DERRYGONNELLY ................................................. 1-11
COA ................................................................... 0-11
Key to shaping the result in this game came within a few minutes of the start, as Derrygonnelly sprang out of the starting blocks and they forged themselves into a reasonable lead.
A couple of points and then a goal had the Harps up and running and though they were not able to sustain the electric pace they had laid the foundations down for a solid success that keeps them right at the forefront of the division one table.
For Coa it was to be a case of immediately having to chase the game. This they did with admirable resolution and at one stage they had reduced the gap to a single score, this situation coming some ten minutes from full time.
But Derrygonnelly were to finish that bit stronger and Coa had slipped to another setback, their chances now of featuring in the top four beginning to look a shade remote.
Kevin McGrath was very much the leading light in the Derrygonnelly attack over the opening half, hitting a number of points and also collecting the goal. This score was a determined piece of individual play from the experienced McGrath as he surged in along the endline before driving his shot home.
Barry McGrath was also featuring prominently in the Derrygonnelly attack, he was to shoot a three point first half tally and after the changeover he was to add a few more.
For Coa, Cathal Beacom, Darren and Lee McQuaid were to be the main marksmen with Eoin Donnelly and Ciaran Beacom doing solid work in the defence and midfield. Gary Lynch also had his moments at corner forward, picking off a second half point, but Coa had left themselves far too much ground to recover due to their limp start to the contest.
For Derrygonnelly, Rory Dundas was an effective wing back, Stephen Jones held the full back line together well and Noel Gallagher was confident in attack.
Better from Coa.
In a rescheduled game played some days earlier against Lisnaskea, Coa were to put in a better display and they had a much needed win. Five points to spare over the Emmetts, goals from Cathal Beacom and Julian Carters instrumental in carving out the win.
Leon Carters was also in good form in this match, hitting a five points tally and Coa generally had control of the exchanges.
