Teemore topple Coa

TEEMORE .................................... 2-12

COA ............................................. 2-9

Coa continue to have their problems in stitching together a sustained run in the league and they slipped to another setback when they went down to Teemore.

They had found themselves hard enough pressed by an enterprising Teemore side who shot a tally of seven points prior to the interval.

That tally was enough to edge the Shamrocks into the lead but on the changeover it was Coa who re-emerged as the more positive side and they were to dictate for some twenty minutes.

At one stage Coa had pushed reasonably clear but over the final ten minutes they faded badly and it was resurgent Teemore who were to round off the game as the nimbler team.

Two Teemore goals in what was a forceful finale turned the game on its head and Teemore had chalked up a fine win.

First half points for Teemore had been supplied in the main by Ciaran Brady and John Fitzpatrick with answering points for Coa coming from Cathal Beacom, Darren and Lee McQuaid.

Coa had also grabbed a goal, this a successful penalty strike from Cathal Beacom at the end of the first quarter.

Better from Coa on the resumption and when Lee McQuaid fired in their second goal, after he had careered his way through the Teemore defence, the Coa cause looked very optimistic.

But Teemore who had had a goal from Shane Brady were not totally out of the hunt and they were to be able to raise the level of their game sufficiently over the final minutes to swing the result their way. Crucial to this was the Teemore second goal, Mark Donohue the marksman with only a couple of minutes left on the clock.

It was a devastating setback for a Coa team who were already wilting and Teemore were now in command to claim the win. For Teemore, Damian Curry and Neil Owens were two particularly effective corner backs and further upfield in their lineout, Ciaran Brady, John Fitzpatrick and Mark Donohue did well.

For Coa, Ciaran Beacom was steady in defence with Lee and Darren McQuaid to the fore in midfield and attack.

Referee Martin Higgins Lisnaskea.
