Practical maths was the order of the day at St Mary's Primary School, Newtownbutler recently. Sentinus (the educational charity) provided maths workshops for all the pupils in the School. The workshop was developed to demonstrate that maths is relevant and can be a lot of fun. Working in groups the pupils tackled a series of problem solving puzzles to see who could complete the most in a set time. The principal, Paula Kelly reported that the day had been planned as part of a focus on problem solving and investigations in maths.
