DERRYGONNELLY .......... 3-9
LISNASKEA ................. 0-10
The three goals which they scooped up presented Derrygonnelly with a convincing victory over Lisnaskea, two of their strikes coming in the opening half.
That was more than enough to hoist the Harps into a commanding interval lead, seven clear and in the second half there was to be no indication that they were to be pegged back.
Lisnaskea did have one chance after the break to shoot the goal which might have engineered a strong rally but they were to be denied by a fine stop from Derrygonnelly goalkeeper Brian Hoy who pushed away a fiercely driven shot from Ciaran Conlon.
That opportunity was really the last saloon as far as Lisnaskea were concerned and in the end they were well adrift of a more able Derrygonnelly lineout.
For the Harps, Tiarnan Daly was to enjoy a steady match at wing half back and Peter Murphy was to have a good man to man tussle with key Emmet's forward Ciaran Conlon.
Conal Jones was much to the forefront in the Derrygonnelly forward line and over the course of the hour he picked off some impressive points from play.
For Lisnaskea, the departure through injury of Shay Curran was a setback and this unhinged them. Ciaran Conlon had his moments for them and there was to be support forthcoming from John Rice and Justin Kelly but overall, the losing side were facing an uphill struggle.
They had that struggle on their hands from the moment that they conceded the first goal.
This arrived on ten minutes, the approach being set up by Ryan and Conal Jones which opened up the Emmett's rearguard and Maurice Cassidy came in on the end of the move to fire home the shot. A second Derrygonnelly goal was to be registered some ten minutes later, this one supplied by Ryan Jones.
These scores obviously boosted the confidence of the Harps and they eased their way in for an additional six points tally, Conor Duffy, Chris Ferguson and Conal Jones among the marksmen for them.
Not that Lisnaskea were totally out of the reckoning. They had been able to push forward on occasion and had been rewarded with points from Ciaran Conlon and Justin Kelly but they were slipping out of contention by the time that the interval was reached.
Little real change in the tenor of the contest after the restart and ten minutes from time all thought that Lisnaskea might have entertained about hauling themselves back into the contest was killed off by the third Derrygonnelly goal of the evening.
Conal Jones was the scoretaker, fisting home from close range, and for him it was an appropriate finish to a solid individual contribution.
Nine points the gap separating the sides at the end of an hour which had seen Derrygonnelly never unduly extended and the winners were not particularly flattered by the margin of their win.
