KINAWLEY.................. 1-9
TEMPO .................. 3-12
This section of the summer league will be curtailed due to the decision of both Coa and Derrygonnelly not to participate. So for Tempo and Kinawley this was to be their first outing in the competition, their scheduled opening games last midweek against Derrygonnelly and Coa not taking place.
Visitors Tempo were to open with a convincing win, nine points to spare at the end and they signalled their intent early on when they broke through for their first goal.
Declan Bogue tucked away his opportunity.
It had been Kinawley who had been first off the mark, shooting two quick points but that Tempo goal undermined the home team's resolve and for the remainder of the half and they generally dictated matters, hitting a tally of six points with a faltering Kinawley managing just two in response.
Leading by five points at the break.Tempo were to have one brief flurry of anxiety on the restart before they regained a firm command.
Kinawley snatched an early goal which had the gap separating the teams clipped back to two points and there was a momentary expectation that the home side might be able to put the opposition under heavy pressure.
This didn't materialise however, with Tempo stepping up the pace of their game and they were to become much the dominant force. Around the threequarter mark they were to put any doubt about the result to bed when they broke through for two more goals.
Both were scored by Daryl Keenan, who came in on the end of some nimble approach play and points for the now commanding leaders were added on by Niall McCusker and Niall McElroy.
In the end they had a more than comfortable winning margin, the Kinawley challenge petering out.
For the winner's Rory Foy made a welcome return after an absence through injury while there were also to be steady performances put in by Conor Meehan at wing half and Ryan Foy at corner back.
For Kinawley, Tomas Corrigan was their most effective figure up front while Sean Leonard, Matthew Drumm and substitute Ciaran Crudden offered the steadiest support.
