ST JOSEPHS .............................. 1-10
IRVINESTOWN ........................... 1-10
Home side St Josephs were to stage a determined rally over the final quarter to level this tie with derby rivals Irvinestown. At the threequarter mark the contest appeared to be firmly in Irvinestown's grasp as they had eased themselves four points in front but the visitors were unable to maintain their grip and they were pushed onto the back foot by a committed home side who, in the end were to be well worth their draw.
The game's two goals both came in the opening half.
Michael McAleer was the marksman for St Josephs as he drove home a crisp, low shot. The Irvinestown score came from Brendan McCaffery and this eased his side two points clear, and that gap was to separate the sides at the break.
First half points for Irvinestown, five in all had come mainly from Gary Maguire and Ronan Ormsby with Enda Ferris and Declan McCusker on target for St Josephs.
It had been an evenly enough contested affair but in the third quarter it was Irvinestown who did push on that little bit more firmly and they were to move further ahead but with the finishing line in sight they lost their command and a sturdy Ederney team was able to launch a late spurt with Enda Ferris and Declan McCusker again picking points and they tied the contest.
For St Josephs, Conor Maguire had a sound match in the defence with Enda Ferris, Peter Gormley and Declan McCusker doing well up front. For Irvinestown, Niall Tinney made a welcome return and others to contribute were Brendan McCaffery in defence and Ronan Ormsby in attack.
Devenish in control
DEVENISH ................................. 2-12
TEEMORE ................................... 2-6
Gerard Love was the leading figure in this six point success for Devenish as they generally held the upperhand over visiting Teemore. The hardworking Devenish forward was to shoot an impressive two goals and two points tally and his goals were instrumental in securing the win for his side.
His second goal which came some five minutes from full time killed off what had become a sturdy Teemore late rally which had narrowed the gap between the teams to just three points, but Love's second strike emphatically settled matters. Overall the best Devenish play was to come in the opening half and they reached the break leading by seven points on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-5.
The points had been mainly supplied by Darren Brady and Terry O'Flanagan with Love drilling in his goal on the fifteenth minute mark. Responding for a Teemore side which was rather subdued at this stage were points from Declan Fitzpatrick and Joey Donegan.
The Teemore revival came early on the changeover as they popped in their first goal of the evening and this introduced an element of uncertainty into the outcome. Devenish had points from Love and Ciaran Mulrone to keep themselves in front but a second Teemore goal set the alarm bells ringing for them.
But it all came right for them in the end as Love popped up to notch his second goal of the evening. He was in the right spot to avail of a chance when a shot was parried out by the Teemore goalkeeper and he had a simple task to knock the ball to the net.
No way back for Teemore in the scant remaining time left on the clock. For the beaten side, Gerry Quinlan worked hard throughout with Joey Donegan again turning in a committed effort.
For Devenish; Anthony McGuinness was steady in defence, Sean Burns provided leadership and Gerard Love enjoyed a sparkling hour up front.

Erne Gaels
edge a win
ERNE GAELS ............................. 0-13
ENNISKILLEN ............................. 2-5
Niall McGovern was to shoot two goals for Enniskillen but his side still went down to a two point defeat to Erne Gaels. The Belleek team put in a sprightly sixty minute effort and in the end just about deserved to shade the result.
They had hit five points in the opening half but a lot of their good work was erased by the first McGovern goal which came around the end of the first quarter and McGovern who had a solid match all through was to also collect the solitary point that his side shot in the opening half.
In the second half it remained a case of Erne Gaels just edging matters as they put in a very spirited team effort. They picked off points from Mark O'Shea, Ciaran Smith, Brian Mullins and Mark Lyons but again they were to see their lead trimmed by a second McGovern goal and that paved the way for a tight enough finish. Second half points for Enniskillen to bolster McGovern's goal had come from Colm Bradley, Jason Hanley, Conor Kelly and Ronan McCabe.
For Enniskillen, Paul Gunn was an effective defender and McGovern enjoyed a good hour up front. For Erne Gaels, Rossa Cullen marshalled the team's defensive set up and Brian Mullins got through a lot of work in the half forward line with Mark O'Shea also featuring for them.
