Maguire 'crowning' talk

An expert on medieval Irish history is the guest speaker for next week's monthly meeting of Lisnaskea Historical Society.

It will be held in the Castle Park Centre, starting at 8pm, and the talk is being sponsored by the Lisnaskea Fairs and Markets Trustees.

Dr Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, from Galway University, will speak about the Moate Ring at Cornashee, just outside the town, the traditional crowning place of the Maguire chieftains. It is entitled: 'Evoking the White Mare - the inauguration place of the Maguires at Cornashee'.

There is a £3 admission fee. Everyone is welcome and there will be refreshments afterwards.
