Losing weekend for seconds

North Fermanagh 2nds had two home games at the weekend, on Saturday the visitors were Killyclooney and Sundays game saw Donemana as the visitors.

Saturdays game was the semi final of the Intermediate C cup which was played under grey rain filled clouds but it was not to be North Fermanagh's day and and it was Killyclooney who advanced to the final by virtue of a 103 run victory.

Killyclooney batted first and scored 171 from their 40 overs, but they were in some trouble at 56 for 5 until Robinson and Barr came together to steady the innings. David Mills was the pick of the North Fermanagh bowlers and finished with figures of 3 for 25 from his eight overs.

In reply North Fermanagh found runs difficult to come by with only two batsmen reached double figures, Pete Keogh (29) and Rory Maguire (14) were the only players to show any resistance and the total of 68 all out was their lowest of the season, Killyclooney's C Farry was the chief destroyer for the visitors and finished with the very impressive figures 5 for 7 from 6.1 overs

Sunday saw Donemana take on the 2nds in an Intermediate 4 league match and again North Fermanagh were beaten, but only just, North Fermanagh batted first and form once more deserted them with the bat and their total of 111 for nine could have been a lot worse but for a fine 33 not out by David Mills who was batting down the order, Robinson and Doherty bowled excellent spells for the visitors and only 20 runs came off their combined 16 overs.

In reply Donemana got off to a steady start and looked to to be well in control, Dunn, Robinson and Roy McBrine all reached double figures for the visitors,Chris Faris was bowling well for North Fermanagh finishing with 2 for 23 from eight overs but it was young David Smith who almost won the game for his team mates, he bowled an excillent spell and finished with the impressive figures of 4 for 24 from 8 overs,Donemana's last pair were at the wicket and with plenty of overs to spare they scrambled the two runs for victory by one wicket to win a very close and enjoyable game

The 1st team match which was to be played on Saturday away to Sion Mills was rained off and will be replayed this Sunday. Both teams are away from home on Saturday the 1sts travel to Coleraine for a Senior 2 League match and the 2nds travel to Sion Mills for an Intermediate 4 League match.
