Carer's treated to surprise make-over

It was by all accounts a rather unexpected but pleasant surprise when 10 women carers turned up for their last day of a personal development programme at the beautiful setting of Blaney Spa.

For awaiting them was a complete make-over team made up of Pauline Corrigan, (Beauty from Nature's Store), Patricia Strong (the Hair and Makeup Company), and Yvonne Coulter (Nail and Beauty Artist), all ready to transform the ladies for a surprise celebration evening.

The women are all carers of children with learning disabilities, and they had just completed an eight week personal development programme, 'Its All About Me' run by Fermanagh's new social enterprise me unltd.

Having had their make-over, the carers were then whisked away by limousine to attend a surprise celebration dinner held at Saddler's Restaurant in Enniskillen.

Bernie Convey, one of the women carers gave her reaction: "I can't believe how wonderful a programme this is – the whole eight weeks was just brilliant and the makeover was just the icing on the cake. It couldn't have been better. I'm now able to better deal with the issues which have held me back from developing as a person for years"

Noreen Kettyles from me unltd delivered the programme and mentored the ladies during their eight week programme.

She stated: "I am delighted that we've been able to make such a difference to the lives of these wonderful women. As a social enterprise, we have the needs of carers at front of mind in all we do and will be offering continued support to the ladies through our give-a-care scheme which provides health, fitness and well-being services to women carers"
